Scroll control

Enable Gestures:
This enables the facility to control the speed of scroll by touching the screen and moving your finger up to start/advance the text faster or down to slow down or stop. If your finger is removed from the screen the text will continue to scroll at the last selected speed until it is re-selected and changed or paused. If unpaused the scroll rate will continue at the last selected speed.

Reverse Gestures:
When set this reverses the above. Move down to advance the text faster and up to slow down.

Scroll Speed:
will indicate the last speed of scroll.

Countdown and Pause Control:
Starting Value (0 to 15):
is the value of the countdown display in seconds to the start of automatic scroll.

Pause Mode Controls:
When ON a Pause Bar will appear when the scrolling text is paused by touching the screen. The PAUSE BAR consists of the following Icons:

GO :
When pressed this will take the text to an In-point if it has been set and will automatically scroll at the last speed selected after a countdown of seconds as entered in Starting Value.

In Point :
enables a start, or In Point, to be set in the text. The current In Point will be cleared before a new one is set.

Save Speed:
The scrolling the speed can be set at an average reading speed. The Running man Icon is used to save speed. This will be applied to the scroll rate after GO enables auto scrolling. You can therefore review other points in the text by scrolling at various speeds but always be sure that the auto-scrolling speed will be correct when initiated by touching GO.

Pause/UnPause:
The scrolling text can be paused by simply touching the screen. Un-Pause by touching the screen again or by touching the Un- Pause Icon.

Orientation Lock:
The Padlock is green when UnSet and RED when SET. This will lock the orientation to avoid accidental Flipping.

Speed Value:
The speed value that has been saved.

The iPad/Pod i Symbol:
This is used to return to the Flipside of the screen for file management/downloads.

Auto Flip Control

On Application Start:
When ON the application will automatically power up in the Local Files screen ready to select a View File or View Running Order.
When OFF the application will power up with the scrolling screen displaying the last selected text. Press the i button to Flip to the Local Files view.

ON View File:
When ON viewing will automatically start after View File or View Running Order has been selected.
When OFF the application will power up with the last selected text. Press the i button to go to the Local Files view and after selecting a file or Running Order touch Resume to display the text.

On Orientation Change:
When ON, the display will flip between the Prompting view and the Local Files view on a physical orientation change.

Default Colours and Font:
Select Foreground or Background and tick the desired colour. These are default colours and can be useful when using BIGWriter is bright ambient conditions.

If text is originated within BIGWriter editor or in Word, or other word processors, there are Mark Ups available to define background and foreground colours which will over write the default values. The text should be saved as a .txt file.

The following Mark Ups can be embedded in the text to over ride the default settings and change colours and fonts on the fly. If certain mark ups, such as Marker, are to be frequently used in text creation/editing, up to four can be configured in Macros for quick implementation. Each comment opens with < and is closed with >. The comments will not be displayed as text on BIGWriter but examples can be viewed by opening this Welcome file with the BIGWriter on-board editor.

To set a font size and style:
The number entered is the number of the font in the list in BIGWriter Settings and is sequential from the top beginning with 0.

<font=0>There are similar sizes available in Helvetica-Bold and Zapfino.

To Create a Marker for quick Jump To access within the text. A swipe to the left of the screen will Jump Back one marker, a swipe to the right will Jump To the next marker.

The text can be justified to the Left, justify number 1, which is the default, the Right, number 0 or Centre, number 2.

The following are the Colour/Number allocations. Black 0 (Zero)
Red 1
Green 2

Yellow 3 Blue 4 Magenta 5 Cyan 6 White 7

Three elements can be coloured the following are examples: <foreground=2> foreground colour set to Green Backdrop set to Black..
<background=1> <foreground=3> foreground set to yellow. Background set to Red.

<backdrop=4> <foreground=7>Backdrop set to Blue. Foreground set to White.

<backdrop=0>
<foreground=7> The Backdrop is the fill colour behind all text. The Backgound creates a coloured box to highlight text. <foreground=7>

Bullet points can be inserted into the text in two sizes:

<spotstyle=1><spot=1> Small Bullet point. (spotstyle=1 bracketed by < >)
<spotstyle=2><spot=2> Large Bullet point.

and can be coloured as above, example:

<spotstyle=1><spot=1> Small red Bullet Point. <spotstyle=2><spot=4> Large blue Bullet Point.

Once the size and colour of the Bullet Point has been defined it will remain that size until a new size/colour is defined.

Hide RO Help:

A default hint on how to use the Run Order will be cancelled with this set to ON.

Additional Settings:
Macros:
Up to four Macros can be set to use in editing and place markers in the text.

FTP text import.

Hostname: Static IP address for the Host computer or the address of the FTP server, Drop Box, iCloud or where access is required.

Username: This is the name of the network/access point.

Password: This is the password for the network/access point.

Directory: This is the directory where your text is located.

Script Filter: *.* will load any .txt file.
